Granit Xhaka is staying put. The Switzerland captain has reportedly rejected a move to Chelsea, choosing instead to remain at Sunderland, according to We Ain’t Got No History.
Chelsea had tabled an £8 million bid for the 33-year-old, but Sunderland knocked it back, insisting their skipper was worth far more. Xhaka, currently on World Cup duty with Switzerland, is said to have reaffirmed his commitment to the Black Cats and their Europa League push.
The report adds that Xhaka is expected to continue leading Sunderland, with the club keen to hold onto one of its most influential figures despite Chelsea’s interest.
