Madibo given five-game ban for causing Kone leg break

Qatar’s Assim Madibo received a five-match ban after his World Cup challenge broke Canada’s Ismael Kone’s leg. The 29-year-old midfielder was sent off during Qatar’s 6-0 loss last Thursday. FIFA’s disciplinary committee imposed the suspension for serious foul play, with an appeal possible. Kone suffered fractures to his tibia and fibula, ruling him out of the tournament. Madibo visited him in hospital after the incident.
