José Mourinho has denied any contact from Real Madrid and insists his full focus remains on Benfica.
Benfica coach José Mourinho has dismissed reports linking him with a return to Real Madrid for the 2026-27 season. Speaking ahead of Benfica’s clash with Famalicao, the Portuguese manager said no approach had been made by the Spanish giants.
“No, no one from Real Madrid spoke with me, I can guarantee that,” Mourinho said. He added that speculation is common in football and should not be taken seriously. Mourinho also stressed he remains under contract with Benfica for another season.
“I have one year left on my contract with Benfica, and that’s all,” he said. Mourinho added that his priority is helping Benfica finish the season strongly, with upcoming matches against Famalicao, Braga and Estoril. He also praised long-serving managers, saying stability helps coaches shape teams over time.
