The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is intensifying efforts to bolster the Super Eagles, with Newcastle United’s William Osula emerging as a primary target. Former Nigeria international Sam Sodje has officially backed this pursuit, noting that the 22-year-old forward could significantly enhance the team’s “fighting power upfront.”
Osula, who has represented Denmark at youth levels, remains eligible for a senior switch. Sodje, who navigated a similar dual-nationality path, stated, “It’s always nice to get the best players as long as they are Nigerians to play for the nation.” While advocating for the inclusion of overseas talent, Sodje also reminded the NFF to “encourage the home-based” players. If successful, Osula could join Arthur Okonkwo as the latest high-profile addition to coach Eric Chelle’s evolving squad ahead of the upcoming Unity Cup.
