WORLD CUP SHOCK. Spain, one of the tournament favourites, were held to a stunning 0-0 draw by World Cup debutants Cabo Verde in their opening Group H clash at the Atlanta Stadium. Despite dominating possession and firing 23 shots at goal, La Roja could not find the net.
The hero of the night was 40-year-old Cabo Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, who pulled off eight incredible saves to deny Spain repeatedly. Even the introduction of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams off the bench could not break the deadlock. The historic result blows Group H wide open, with Uruguay and Saudi Arabia also in contention. It goes down as one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history.
