West Ham beat Leeds 3-0 but suffer relegation after Spurs win

West Ham United have been relegated to the Championship despite securing a 3-0 victory over Leeds, as Tottenham Hotspur’s win against Everton ultimately doomed the Hammers.

West Ham United have been relegated from the Premier League despite a late 3-0 surge against Leeds on the final day, according to BBC Sport.

The Hammers entered the match needing a victory while hoping Tottenham Hotspur dropped points against Everton. For over an hour, a lethargic West Ham struggled in sweltering conditions, burdened by news of Spurs taking a first-half lead.

However, the breakthrough came in the 67th minute when “Taty Castellano headed in Jarrod Bowen’s corner at the back post.” Bowen then doubled the lead with 11 minutes remaining, driving a “neat, angled finish into the far corner,” before substitute Callum Wilson added a third in stoppage time.

Despite doing their part, West Ham’s fate rested elsewhere. Tottenham held firm to win, condemning the Hammers to Championship football for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
