West Ham relegated despite final-day win over Leeds

West Ham United did everything they could on the final day but it still wasn’t enough. The Hammers beat Leeds United 3-0, only to see their Premier League survival hopes disappear after Tottenham Hotspur edged Everton F.C. 1-0.

Taty Castellanos opened the scoring before Jarrod Bowen and Callum Wilson piled on the misery with late goals. For a while, the London Stadium believed. But Spurs’ result elsewhere meant West Ham’s 14-year stay in the top flight officially came to an end.

According to the BBC, the Hammers finish the season two points behind Tottenham and will now play Championship football next season their first relegation since 2011.
