Inter Milan are seriously targeting Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo to strengthen their defense for a Champions League push following their domestic double.
According to Tribuna, via reports from Corriere dello Sport, Inter are exploring a ambitious summer transfer plan. However, financing the move is complex. Barcelona highly rate Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni, but Inter’s valuation of more than €60 million has stalled negotiations. To lower the cost, a player swap has emerged, with Araujo discussed as a potential makeweight to unlock Bastoni’s exit.
The proposed blockbuster swap faces a major roadblock from the player himself. Even so, Araujo remains deeply committed to the Catalan giants, as “Araujo himself wants to stay at Barcelona.” He is respected within the dressing room and viewed as vital to the club’s future project, making the operation extremely difficult to complete.
