Leandro Paredes could face disciplinary action after becoming involved in a heated altercation with Spain players following Argentina’s World Cup final defeat.
Spain’s celebrations after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final were briefly overshadowed by post-match disorder involving Leandro Paredes.
Reports from Spanish outlet Sport said the Argentine midfielder confronted Eric Garcia before becoming involved in another clash with Gavi, forcing players and staff from both teams to intervene.
Paredes, who entered after halftime and had already been booked, was reportedly among Argentina’s most combative players during the match.
The incident has fuelled speculation that FIFA could review his conduct for possible disciplinary action. Spain, meanwhile, quickly turned its attention back to celebrating a second World Cup crown after Ferran Torres’ extra-time winner sealed the title.
